CSP01 Avonside Class B3 0-6-0ST
The Avonside B3 class was one of the most prolific of the Avonside designs. No fewer than 59 were constructed between 1906 and 1926. The Mersey Docks and Harbour Board operated 26 of these locomotives. In fact, the Avonside code word for this class was "Mersey". Other industrial concerns (collieries etc.) throughout the country also operated B3's. Several were to be found in Lancashire and especially in the South Wales coalfields. Detail differences exist between different locos, it was  hardly surprising for a class built over 20 years. Early locos had wooden buffer beams but on later examples these were steel. Thankfully, several B3's survived into preservation. One member, "Sir John", survived as a working loco into the early 1970's at the NCB's Colliery in Mountain Ash, South Wales. This loco is currently preserved on the Gwili Railway. A variety of liveries was carried. Green was common, with red rods. Many others were black and some were crimson. This is a great starter loco kit, easy to build and with plenty of opportunities to use it in numerous freelance layouts.

CSP01c Avonside Class B3 0-6-0ST Chassis only
This chassis is being supplied specifically for those modelling in 7mm Narrow Gauge following a request from the Association. It is the chassis fret, in Nickel Silver, only. There are no other parts. Post and packing is included in the price. Overseas orders please check for postage costs.

CSP02 Avonside Class SS 0-4-0ST
During 1897 and 1898 two locos of this design were constructed. One loco, named "Trojan" became the property of Dunn & Shute and went to the "Town Dock" at Newport in July 1897. In 1903 it went the Alexandra Docks Co and on passing into GWR ownership in Jan 1922 it acquired the number 1340. In 1932 it was withdrawn from service and placed on the "Sales List" By this time it had lost the familiar Avonside dome and had probably been re-boilered. It was purchased by The Victoria Colliery Company of Wellington, Shrops. It went to Netherseal Colliery in Derbyshire. It was still there in 1942 when the colliery became The Moira Colliery Co. In 1946 was purchased by Alders of Tamworth (Paper Mill) and it remained there for the rest of its working life eventually being acquired for preservation by Mr J B True in March 1968. Trojan now resides at GWR motive Power depot at Didcot. The other loco went to Handen Hold Colliery in Co Durham and was broken up in the late 1930's It was named "Whitehall" and carried a J&G Joicey number plate 457. The locos mainly differed by Trojan having 2 Giffard No5 injectors and 457 having 1 injector and 1 crosshead feed pump. The kit has the "Trojan" name and "1340" number plate as part of the kit.

CSP03 Kerr Stuart Victory Class 0-6-0T
2018 - kit upgraded with lost wax brass castings for chimney, dome, safety valve and tank fillers.
Ten locos of this class were constructed in 1917 as part of the Govt. war effort. On the cessation of hostilities they were disposed of to collieries, docks,etc.inc the East Kent Railway. Alexandra Docks purchased two, which were numbered 34 and 35, 3 years later they were acquired by the GWR as nos (666,667) they were given the Dia 68 but in 1923 they received some alterations at Swindon and were given the Diagram B13.They went to BR ownership and 667 lasted until 1954 and 666 until 1955. The 3rd GWR Victory class loco came from the Brecon & Merthyr Railway,originally ROD No 14,she became No 35, she was "Swindonised" in 1922 but retained her Ross pop valves. As GW 2161 she remained at the Alexandra Docks until sold to the Ashington Coal Co. She finished her days as an NCB loco and was cut up in 1951. No 12 went to Manchester Collieries and was named "Francis". She ended her days at Astley Green Colliery and was scrapped in 1968 The East Kent Railway acquired No 11 in1919 and she remained there until going into BR ownership in 1948 as 30948. She never recieved her BR number and was scrapped in 1949. Many others worked at other collieries where they were very popular workhorses. No. 15 went to the Aberaman colliery and was numbered "19" and was scrapped in 1969. No16 was at Tirpentwys Coal & Coke Co and was scrapped by the NCB in 1964. No 18 became Lambton & Joicey No 41 and was scrapped in 1964. No 19 became Rothervale No 8 at the United Steel Co and finally became an NCB loco at Orgreave Colliery. Scrapped 1966. A Kerr Stuart or a GWR Swindonised loco can be built from the kit. GWR name and numbers are included in the kit.

CSP04 Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST
In the 1900's, Hawthorne Leslie introduced their standard design for an 0-4-0ST 14ins. loco for Industrial use. Numerous of these attractive little locos were constructed even after the Company became part of the Robt. Stephenson & Hawthorns group, albeit to a slightly modified design. The locos were to be found at all types of Industrial installations. The GWR acquired one, via The Swansea Harbour Trust, which became no 974, later changed to 1144 under BR. Names and numberplates are included in the kit.

CSP05 Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0ST
This classic Hudswell-Clarke design was introduced in 1903 and over 20 locos were built right up to 1939. These handsome little saddle tanks were to be found in many industrial locations. Two were purchased by the grandly named Llanfair & Mynydd Mawr Railway. The loco was works no 1214 was named "Hilda" by the L&MMR. It moved to the GWR in 1922 becoming 359 and was "Swindonised" in 1926. "Hilda" acquired a typical GWR bunker and a crude safety valve bonnet. It worked in Swansea Docks and was shedded at Danygraig for most of its later years. Sadly,it was scrapped by BR in 1954. The kit can be built in either version and includes name and number plate.

CSP06 Hudswell Clarke 14 in 0-4-0ST
Hudswell-Clarke produced many different locos to standard designs. The 14ins. saddle tank was one such design dating from the early part of the 20th century. These locos had the typical Hudswell appearance. Many were to be constructed and found their way into all sorts of Industrial locations, including sewage works. Some have survived into preservation. Etched name plates for some examples are included in the kit.

CSP07 Hunslet 0-6-0T Jazzer
In the late 1890's Hunslet introduced this design of side tank as a standard for industrial uses. These relatively small but powerful locos, of which a total of 32 were built, were to be found at a variety of locations including a prison railway. Ten of the class worked on the Manchester Ship Canal lines where they were nicknamed "Jazzers" Some examples of the class lasted in service until the 1980's. One loco named "St. John" and numbered 14 by the MSC, was purchased by ICI who named it "Lady Armaghdale". This loco survives in preservation. The kit has a selection of names and numbers included.

CSP08 Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns/Yorkshire Engine 0-6-0ST
In 1937 Robert Stephenson & Hawthornes (RSH) built a number of locos for the Appleby/Frodingham Steel Co. The locos had a massive appearance and were designed for the rough and tumble of a steelworks environment.In the early 1950's further locos,to essentially the same design, were constructed by the Yorkshire Engine Co.(YE) The YE and the RSH versions differed in the cab and smokebox design. A model of either variant can be made from the kit. Many of the locos were sold off to the NCB when the steelworks dieselised. Three of the locos survive today.

CSP09 Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0T Canal & Sweden Type
Hudswell-Clarke designed this class to the same specification as the "Jazzer" (see AM7) Construction began in 1902 and the MSC took delivery of 30, which were given the class name "Canal". The first locos had short tanks and a limited water capacity which resulted in some operational problems. Hudswell-Clarke modified the design by extending the tanks level with the smokebox front. The official class name for these locos was "Sweden" but they were nicknamed "Long Tankers". "Canal" locos were purchased by many other companies and were to be found at many Industrial locations, especially collieries. The kit can be used to construct a model of either a "Canal" or a "Sweden" class of loco.A range of names and numbers are included in the kit. Lost Wax Brass fittings to facilitate modelling this loco in its guise when used on the Mid Suffolk Light Railway are now available.

CSP10 Avonside 0-6-0ST ex-BP & GVR GWR 2194/5
These iconic little Avonside 0-6-0ST's which were always associated with the Weymouth Quay Tramway started out their careers in 1903 with the Burry Port & Gwendraeth Valley Railway. Both locos were named, 2194 was "Kidwelly", 2195, "Cwm Mawr" Following absorption by the GWR the locos were "Swindonised" and gained the standard bunker and boiler fittings they went to Weymouth in July 1923. They both survived at Weymouth until 1939/40. 2194 went to Cardiff and spent her final years at Taunton but was eventually withdrawn in 1953. 2195 went to Swindon in 1939 but returned to Weymouth in 1945 and remained there until June 1946. She was withdrawn in 1953. These are probably the prettiest small locos on the GWR. Brass bell, Vac pump and name and number plates are included in the kit.

CSP11 Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0T
Hudswell-Clarke & Co. probably built more side tank locos for Industrial & Private use than any of its contemporaries. A variety of 6 coupled side tanks were offered. This kit is based on a design introduced in the 1920's. To aid forward vision the tank fronts were sloped and cut outs were needed to gain access to the inside motion. This loco was widely used at collieries, quarries and steelworks. The drawings were made from measurements made of "Elizabeth" No 1600/27,at NCB Water Haighley.

CSP12 Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST Littleton No 4 & No 5
Manning Wardle built two locos to this design which were constructed for Littleton Collieries Ltd., just to the North of Cannock. They were massive locos and were amongst the first locos designed purely for Industrial use to employ 18ins diameter cylinders. One loco was namede "Littleton No 4" and the other "Littleton No 5" The latter was at work until the early 1970's when it was purchased for preservation. Names & numbers are included in the kit.

CSP13 Hudswell Clarke/Robert Stephenson 0-6-0ST ex PTR GWR 813
In 1898 the Port Talbot Railway took delivery of 3 locos from R Stephenson & Co. A further 6 locos to essentially the same design were ordered from Hudswell-Clarke in 1900. Eight of the locos passed into GWR ownership in 1922 and they modified them with Swindon fittings, cab and bunker and renumbered them. In th early 1930's most of the locos, still bearing their GWR numberplates, were sold off to colliery companies and lasted until the 1950's/60's. One of the locos, No. 813 survives in preservation. The kit makes a model of the GWR modified loco and plates for 813/5&6 are included.

CSP14 Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST Warwickshire
This kit makes a model of the last complete steam locomotive built by this famous Leeds firm of Manning and Wardle. It was assembled using standard parts from various other classes, but the loco is visually similar to the standard "Q" class. The loco carried works No. 2047. In 1926 it was delivered to Rugby Portland Cement Co Ltd at their New Bilton Works. It was withdrawn from use in 1966 and in 1967 it went to Bridgnorth for preservation. It was named "Warwickshire" in 1970 and the nameplates are in the kit. Kit no CSAG 15 is a similar loco but this kit can be used to make any number of similar Manning-Wardle locos.

CSP15 Manning-Wardle "Q" Class 0-6-0ST Ex FY&NR/I.O.W Rlwy/ S.R. No W1.
Ex Freshwater,Newport & Yarmouth Railway. Ex Isle of Wight Railway. Finally Southern Railway No W1 "Medina" Originally built for Pauling & Elliot in 1902 for use on the GWR extension from Northolt to High Wycombe and thence to the Camerton to Limpley Stoke Branch. It was purchased by the FY&NR in 1924. In SR days it was numbered W1 and named Medina. It spent most of its life shunting at Medina Wharf. It was withdrawn in June 1932 and returned to Eastleigh in 1933 where it was broken up.
This kit is a combination of CSP 14 with a completely new chassis and a sub-etch to modify the cab and bunker. The fittings are lost wax brass. It makes a welcome addition to any IOW layout.

CSP16 Avonside 0-6-0ST
This kit makes a model of the typical Avonside 0-6-0ST that were constructed in large numbers from the 1920's. The locos had flat sided full-length saddle tanks and outside cylinders. They were employed at a vatiety of locations ranging from Light Railways to all types of Industrial Railways. Always a popular loco, several were preserved. Names and numbers are included.

CSP17 Manning Wardle 0-6-0ST
The Cleobury & Mortimer Light Railway, a relative latecomer in the light railway world, took delivery of 2 locos in 1908 from Manning-Wardle & Co. Described as "specials" by Manning-Wardle they had works nos. 1734/5 and carried the names "Burwarton"  & "Cleobury" respectively. The design was truly characteristic of "Manning" practice. On being absorbed by the GWR the locos were allotted nos. 28 & 29. The kit only makes the un-modified locos. The "Swindonised" Panniers will be available in 2010. Names and numbers are included.

CSP18c GWR Churchward 1361 0-6-0ST Chassis only
This chassis is being supplied following a special request. It is the chassis fret, which includes coupling rods, in Nickel Silver, only. There are no other parts. Post and packing is included in the price.

CSP20 Sentinel 0-4-0 Steam Shunter
These two little steam shunters with vertical boilers were built for the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway to operate the coal mine traffic in Radstock. There was a very low bridge, nicknamed the "Marble Arch" which they had to pass under, hence the dimensions of the locos. They arrived in 1929 and worked at various times until 1959/60, however they had a tendency to wander somewhat. They were serviced at Bristol Barrow Road and Bath Green Park, major works were done at Derby. They had vertical boilers and were chain driven, all these details are in the kit. 7191 and worked at Kettering in 1935, during the war they saw service in a number of locations.
The kit has an integrated 4 wheel drive gear arrangement and a High Level Gearbox. All fittings are lost brass wax castings.

CSP21 Fox Walker 0-6-0ST GWR 1331 (ex Whitland & Cardigan Railway no 3)
Fox Walker & Co of Bristol (The predecessors of Peckett & Co) built this loco in 1877 with the works No 340. When new it went to the Cardigan & Whitland railway who gave it the number 3. In 1926 the engine was returned to GWR stock receiving No 1331 and was taken to Swindon for rebuilding. She was fitted with longer frames to accommodate a GWR bunker and an enclosed cab. She worked Weymouth Quay until her departure in 1935. She also worked at Reading Signal Works, Pontypool and Gloucester. She was at Swindon until 1941 and then moved to Oswestry. She was rebuilt again at Wolverhampton in 1946 and eventually withdrawn in 1950. No. plates are included.

CSP22 Hawthorne Leslie 0-6-0T Ex P&DSWJR/LSWR/SR. "A S Harris" SR 756
This beautiful little loco was purchased by the PD&SWJR from Hawthorne-Leslie in 1908. The loco was numbered No.3 and was named "A.S.Harris" It was acquired by the LSWR for 3 weeks and numbered 756 only to be transferred at the grouping to the Southern Railway. It carried the same number until 1926/7 when it was given an "E" prefix. The SR painted it in Maunsell Dark Olive and it was fully lined. It ran from Bere Alston to Callington until the SR 02's displaced it from its duties.
It then spent time at Ashford, Eastleigh and then Clapham Junction. It ended its days at Stewarts Lane working the United Dairies Milk Depot until it was scrapped in 1951. It never acquired its BR number  of 30756.
Several other examples of this type were found on a number of Industrial railways.
The kit has exquisite lost wax brass castings which cover most of the alterations that were made during its lifetime. There are also etched nameplates included in the kit.
The kit has spacers for "00" or "EM" gauge, however, it is also suitable for P4.
There are comprehensive instructions with exploded diagrams and a number of photographs for reference.

CSP26 Hawthorne Leslie 0-6-2T Ex P&DSWJR/LSWR/SR. No SR 757/8/BR 30757/8. Earl of Mt Edgecumbe & Lord St. Levan.
A "Colonel Stephens" relic. Ex Plymouth & Devonport and LSWR before becoming an SR asset. A useful addition to many types of Branch Line layout. These locos lasted well into BR days. Long lived and very iconic. The kit makes into a really excellent model with exquisite fittings in brass.  The kit comes with nameplates and smokebox door plates and the builders plates.

CSP32 Peckett 0-4-0ST Type "E" Ex GWR 1143. Ex Swansea Harbour Trust

This kit has been designed to produce a working model of a type of loco that worked at many different locations in industry. In this case, the Swansea Harbour Trust and then, the GWR (their No. 968), and finally BR (No. 1143) owned a loco of this type.

An attractive little Peckett. Swindonised in the 1930's and running in BR days until 1960.
This is truly a beautiful little loco, ideal for any freelance industrial layout or a dock scene.

CSP37 Hawthorne Leslie 0-4-0ST. Ironside. Ex LSWR/SR 30458. Ironside & Clausentum (Hawthorn Leslie Ironside)
Hawthorn, Leslie & Co Ltd built, in 1890, two similar 0-4-0 saddle tank locos, one named 'Clausentum' and the other 'Ironside', for the Southampton Dock Company. The locos passed to the LSWR, along with the dock company, in 1892. Both locos retained their names throughout their working lives. The pair, numbered 457 and 458, by the LSWR, carried various running numbers during their SR career. Photographic evidence suggests that 'Ironside' carried either a short or a long chimney at different times. 'Clausentum' was withdrawn in 1945 but 'Ironside' survived, as BR 30458, and ended its working days in 1954 as shed pilot at Guildford.

CSP40 Peckett W4 Class 0-4-0ST "Hercules" BR (W) .

This a slight deviation from the theme of GWR absorbed engines, this kit produces a model of the BR (Western Region) acquired loco known as “Hercules” “No. 1”. The loco was in fact a pretty standard “W4” Peckett, taken into BR stock in 1948 and overhauled at Danygraig when it acquired a GW safety valve bonnet and had the number 1 painted on the cabsides and buffer beam. The nameplate was only on the LH cabsheet.

This type of Peckett “W4” locomotive had a different style of cab opening and a higher pitched running plate than CSP40.
